Once you have visited the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, you will noticed the vast quantity of array of orchids on display and throughout the main estate. The Bonnet House chooses to feature such an abundance of orchids throughout the year because of Evelyn Bartlett. Evelyn Bartlett was one of the original owners of this estate, and was a passionate collector of variety of tropical plants. To preserve the history of this estate, and the history of it’s original owners; they provide enriching experiences that connect the Fort Lauderdale community to the Bartlett’s legacy.

Bonnet HouseThe Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is located in Fort Lauderdale as stated above, and is a museum venue that hosts events and weddings. The Bonnet House is set on a 35 acres of stunning grounds, and this historical property sits just a short walk away from the Fort Lauderdale Beach. Those who choose to spend their special day here can select from a range of spectacular settings for romantic gatherings or events.

Bonnet HouseWhile the history of the estate dates back hundreds of years, Bonnet House was built in the 1920’s. Original owner Hugh Taylor Birch purchased this estate for his daughter, Evelyn Bartlett, and her husband who was the artist Frederic Clay Bartlett. Much of Frederick’s work still remains at the museum to this very day, along with paintings completed by his second wife. Known for being renowned art collectors, the couple’s collection of work is sure to entertain and amaze newlyweds to be, and their family and friends. This property was donated to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation in 1983, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
